Welcome To Our Neighborhood
The Cook Arts Center and the Cook Library Center are located in the Grandville Avenue neighborhood, also known as the Roosevelt Park neighborhood. The neighborhood boundaries are Wealthy Street to the north, Burton Street to the south, Century Avenue to the east, and Godfrey/Clyde Park avenues to the west. According to the 2000 census, the population in this area is 73% Hispanic and 11% African-American. Two public schools are located in the Grandville Avenue neighborhood, Southwest Community Campus and Cesar Chavez Elementary. The vast majority of students at each school qualify for the federal lunch program.
Although we serve people throughout the metropolitan area, priority is given to children and families who reside within our neighborhood or attend one of the public schools here. All program fees are waived for neighborhood residents.
